Purposeful Returns

Jan 01 Written By

When we talk about returns, we mean more than just money. The returns we seek are eternal, familial, and communal. Calm Capital aims to provide a greater return on our time, talent, and treasure than the initial investment.

This is what stewardship is all about.

It’s about “doing good” with the gifts you’ve received. These gifts are for other’s benefit, anyway. Good stewards are patient, performance-oriented, persistent, perpetually minded, and principled.

Principled

We hold a biblical worldview that guides everything we do. Truth exists and guides our way of living and doing things. By God’s grace, we work to operate in a manner guided by scripture.

Patient

We don’t hurry or rush. We resist succumbing to FOMO. Instead of reacting, we contemplate. Patience builds endurance, and endurance produces long-term results. Business is a marathon, not a sprint.

Persistent

We keep going with unrelenting optimism and continual improvement. Og Mandino said, “I will persist until I succeed.” Persistence leads to success.

Performance-oriented

We achieve results with an attitude of stewardship. It’s what we do with our resources that matters. Working on the right things with the right people at the right time gives us the opportunity to produce remarkable returns.

Perpetual

We’re opportunistic and have no exit strategy. Compounding creates leverage and margin. This gives us the ability to keep putting our time, talent, and treasure to effective use.

Creating an atmosphere of stewardship helps us remember we own nothing. We’re privileged to lead and guide these businesses for a season, hopefully a long one. And while we have them, we desire to create value and make a positive impact on the communities, customers, shareholders, and employees we serve for generations after us.
